NEXT GENERAL MEETING:
Friday: 27th February 2026
10am. at THE WARRAWEE CLUB
Our February 2026 Guest Speaker will be Peter Plowman.
Peter’s talk is entitled “Building Giants”
Peter will give an intriguing presentation on the evolution of passenger liners, from the iconic Titanic of 1912 to today’s colossal ships capable of carrying 8,000 passengers and 2,000 crew members.
We will discover how these massive liners are designed and constructed, and enjoy a visual tour of their expansive interiors that showcase the incredible scale of modern engineering.
Peter Plowman is a renowned maritime researcher and author, with five published books on the subject in Australia over the past two decades. A dedicated member of the World Ship Society for over 40 years, Peter also served as editor of Australian Sea Heritage magazine from 1978 to 1993, published by the Sydney Maritime Museum
